The former a la lucie’s location at the corner of North Limestone and Church Street is now home to Minglewood, a bar, restaurant and live music venue. Owners Trish Tungate (formerly of The Dish) and John Tresaloni (current owner of Cosmic Charlie’s) worked with interior designer Anita Sexton to restore the 1905 building to its former glory, exposing the original floors, painting the walls mint green and adding modern light fixtures, exposed brick and a granite bar.
“We wanted it to be welcoming, casual, and fun so it would appeal to a wide range of people,” said Tungate.
The back of the space doubles as a stage, where local bands will play on weekend nights starting at 9 p.m.
“We’re mainly a rock n’ roll bar, but we’ll also have blues, jazz, and Bluegrass,” said Tresaloni.
“We’re booking solos, duos and trios, but no drums because that can get a little too loud. We want people to be able to have a conversation.”
The menu, primarily created by Tungate, features dishes inspired by the couple’s travels to the Caribbean, Mexico and Central America. Sharable items include the “I’m High on Cheese” platter—smoked cheddar and parmesan pimento cheese with pickled jalapeños and grilled bread, and “Hummus A Tune” – roasted garlic hummus with chips and veggies. Lunch and dinner options include Sriracha Shrimp Tacos with cucumber sour cream and collard green kimchi, and “Tico Fried Chicken” over wilted greens with Costa Rican giardiniera.
Local beer and wine is also available, along with a seasonal cocktail list.
