Kentucky Mule 2

April is a special time in Kentucky – spring is in the air, Keeneland is in session and the Kentucky Derby is just around the corner. Tailgating and other outdoor social occasions beg for refreshing cocktails, and the bourbon-based Kentucky Mule answers that call.
An alternative to both the traditional mint julep and the vodka-based Moscow Mule, this cocktail balances the kick of bourbon with touches of citrus and ginger.
Ingredients:
• 2 ounces of Four Roses
Single Barrel Bourbon
• Half an ounce of fresh
lime juice
• Ginger beer
• Sliced lime and fresh mint
(optional) for garnish
Method:
Add bourbon and lime juice to a highball glass (or a copper “Mule” cup if you have one). Fill the mug with ice and top with ginger beer. For garnish, add mint sprigs and a slice of lime. Serves one. cc
