The Tates Creek High School lacrosse team won the Division II state championship after defeating North Oldham 10-7 in the tournament finals in Louisville on May 18.
Clay Tanner and Clay Douthat scored four goals apiece, and Evan Keesy and Lincoln Day both tallied one each. Cameron Friedrich was the goalkeeper for the Tates Creek Commodores, who finished with a 19-2 record.
Lacrosse is a club sport in Kentucky, and it is not sanctioned by the Kentucky High School Athletic Association. Tates Creek coach, Andy Tarter, who played lacrosse in college, helped launch the Commodores’ program in 2005.
