Faith Feeds and the Lexington Farmers' Market will be teaming up to host a Real Food Donation Drive at the Market’s Thursday location on the corner of S. Broadway and Maxwell.
Faith Feeds|GleanKY, a local non-profit organization that gleans fresh fruits and vegetables to give to Kentucky’s hungry, will be accepting produce donations at the Food Day event between 8am and 3pm. Individuals are encouraged to drop off donations gleaned from their backyard gardens or purchased at market to be donated to feeding programs around the city.
Additionally, the Lexington Farmers’ Market will have an expanded selection of fresh produce and value-added products grown and produced around the state. Market staff will also be on-hand to answer questions about the WIC and Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition voucher programs, for those individuals interested in utilizing the vouchers before they expire on November 1st.
Recipes, shopping tips, and other food resources will also be available to all who attend.
