LEXINGTON, KY - A set of two strands of Light Emitting Diodes (LED) lights will soon be illuminating the top of the 22-story Lexington Downtown Hotel and Conference Center.
As a part of the hotel's $13 million renovation that will allow the hotel formally branded as a Radisson to take the Hilton moniker, the 1,300 feet of LEDs have been added and can change in color.
"The bands will be illuminated at night and the color will be changed throughout the year in conjunction with significant holidays," an announcement from the hotel's property manager Madison Capital Management said.
LEDs tend to be brighter and cooler than traditional lighting options and have been increasingly used in recent years atop of buildings in downtown areas and in street lights. Randy Walker Electric is doing the installation of more than 300 light fixtures to accomplish the job, which should be completed early next week.
