Lexington Police are on the lookout for four women who have passed enough forged checks at local banks to make away with more than $40,000.
"They have been successfully cashing forged checks using what we believe are stolen identities," said Lexington Police Public Information Officer Sherelle Roberts.
Police say the four arrived in Lexington on February 23 and each obtained Kentucky identification cards, most likely using each using an alias. With the counterfeit ID cards they started cashing forged checks at banks in Lexington, Georgetown, Mt. Sterling, Nicholasville, Somerset and Winchester.
All of the checks have been for a total in the high $900 range. The four are believed to have been staying at local motels, though it is not known if they are still in town. Police released five identification photos of the four women: Michelle Brown, Sade Easley, Marquita Riddle and Tiffany Scott. One of which, Sade Easley, changed her hair significantly changing her appearance, so two photos of her are attached.
