Frankfort, KY - Kentucky’s plans for tax reform shouldn’t include a sales tax on food bought at grocery stores, a governor’s special commission decided Tuesday. In one of its first decisions, Gov. Steve Beshear’s Blue Ribbon Commission on Tax Reform flatly rejected a proposal from consultants to put the 6 percent tax on food — generating about $500 million per year in new revenue.
