Kentuckians will be able to donate money to their favorite charities and causes during a 24-hour online fundraising event Wednesday.
Called Kentucky Gives Day, the event is coordinated by Kentucky Nonprofit Network Inc., the state’s association of nonprofits.
The giving period starts at midnight on Wednesday and runs until 11:59 p.m.
Donors can go to www.kygives.org and browse for organizations of their interest or a specific organization. Only donations made online with a credit or debit card on April 24 will be part of Kentucky Gives Day, the organization’s website said. The minimum donation is $10. There is no maximum amount.
Categories for donors include: animals, arts and culture, children and youth, community and society, economic development, education, environment, health, humanitarian aid, international, religion and science and technology. Or donors can search for specific nonprofit organizations.
“The statewide gives day model has proven successful in other states and we are grateful for the support of our sponsors to be able to bring this opportunity to Kentucky’s nonprofits,” Danielle Clore, executive director of the Kentucky Nonprofit Network, said in a news release. “Our goal is to raise as much money as possible for participating charities in one day – really showcasing the power of philanthropy. We want to see what the Bluegrass State can do when charities and the Kentuckians they serve come together.”
