Lexington, KY - Graeter’s is once again serving ice cream in the Hamburg area as the Louisville-based franchisee of the Cincinnati ice cream institution has opened its second location in Lexington.
The new location at 1925 Justice Drive, near Malone’s steakhouse, opened Wednesday morning. At its peak, there were four Graeter’s locations open in Lexington until the previous franchise holder for Lexington and Northern Kentucky closed abruptly in November of 2010.
The first new location, in Chevy Chase, opened in March of 2012, operated by Jim and Jay Tedesco, who also produce the ice cream their franchise sells using the original French pot recipe that made Graeter’s known far beyond the Ohio River Valley.
Before the previous franchise folded, the company had locations at Romany Road, Brighton Place Shoppes - along Man O War near Hamburg, Palomar Centre and Tates Creek Centre.
The new store is open seven days a week. Monday to Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.; and Sunday, Noon to 10 p.m.
