Lexington, KY – J&T Distributing, a maker of personal and tactical weapons in Winchester is planning to add 15 full-time jobs and invest more than $3.6 million in Clark County where the company is based.
In operation since 1980, J&T Distributing manufactures firearm parts and accessories for firearm manufacturers, commercial markets and law enforcement across the United States. The expansion includes the addition of a third manufacturing facility on Fortune Drive in Winchester, joining two current locations, which have a combined total of about 50 employees.
For the expansion, the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority (KEDFA) preliminarily approved the company for tax incentives up to $200,000 through the Kentucky Business Investment program. The performance-based incentive allows a company to keep a portion of its investment over the term of the agreement through corporate income tax credits and wage assessments by meeting job and investment targets.
KEDFA also approved J&T Distributing for tax benefits up to $50,000 through the Kentucky Enterprise Initiative Act, which allows approved companies to recoup Kentucky sales and use tax on construction costs, building fixtures, equipment used in research and development and electronic processing equipment.
