Lexington, KY – Four of the eight central Kentucky S&S Tire and Auto Service Centers have been purchased by Monro Muffler Brake Inc. of Rochester, NY. This week’s purchase of the company’s corporate locations including in Millipond, Hamburg, Eastland and Georgetown leaves four remaining S&S centers under local ownership.
“For nearly 40 years, S&S Tire has provided a customer-friendly experience from a local business, with the buying power of a large corporation and that will not change,” said Beaumont and Brannon Crossing’s owner Ron Shade.
The S&S Tire branded stores will continue to be part of a group of 250 independent local tire dealers across 20 states that leverages its membership for purchasing new inventory.
The four locations purchased by Monro will all operate under the name of Ken Towery Tire & Auto Center, which already has a strong presence in the Lexington market. Monro purchased Ken Towery in December of last year.
The Brannon Crossing, Beaumont and Richmond Road S&S locations are also continuing their tradition as collection stations for the Toys for Tots drive. New unwrapped toys can be dropped off to these locations until December 8, 2013.
At its height, S&S Tire had 13 locations around central Kentucky after its 1974 founding.
