Lexington, KY - UK HealthCare has announced plans to relocate some of its primary care and specialty outpatient clinics to the former Dillard’s location at Turfland Mall.
The hospital will lease and renovate roughly 85,000 square feet of space, making it the anchor tenant for the first floor of the building. The new clinic will consolidate UK Family and Community Medicine patient services, which have been located at both the Kentucky Clinic on the University of Kentucky’s campus and Kentucky Clinic South on Harrodsburg Road. Additional patient services to be relocated to the site include the UK Orthopedics and Sports Medicine clinic at Perimeter Drive and the UK Occupational Medicine and Environmental Health clinic and UK Travel Medicine clinic, both at Kentucky Clinic South.
The new clinic locations are scheduled to be open by this fall.
"Today's announcement is about convenient access to quality patient care in our community," said UK President Dr. Eli Capilouto in a media release announcing the relocation. "Of equal value is the redevelopment and revitalization of this area through this project."
Clinic patients who will be affected by the move will receive more information about the transition in the coming weeks and months as details become available.
“Health care is one of the largest sectors of our local economy and one of the fastest growing, thanks in large part to UK’s leadership in the field at the local, state and national levels,” Mayor Jim Gray said in the media release. “In addition to good jobs, UK provides excellent health-care services for Kentuckians, while nationally it is a leader in research. And with this announcement, UK is also making health-care services more convenient for Lexington citizens, while bringing new life to Turfland Mall.”
