Lexington, KY - Jonathan at Gratz Park, the restaurant owned and operated by renowned chef Jonathan Lundy at the Gratz Park Inn will shut its doors after dinner service on June 28.
A release from the restaurant states the management and staff are “deeply saddened and surprised” by the decision of management at the Gratz Park Inn to not renew their lease.
“The establishment will close on a high note recording its best year ever,” the release from Jonathan at Gratz Park stated.
Tommy Sikes of CRM Properties, managers of the Gratz Park Inn, said the decision not to renew the lease was to bring in a new restaurant from the owner and chef of Midway's Heirloom restaurant.
“We felt like this new restaurant was going to be a good fit for us," Sikes said of the new restaurant to be called Distilled at the Gratz Park Inn.
“Distilled at Gratz Park Inn’s vision will be to remove the non-essential ingredients from fine dining and focus on food quality, presentation, and a casual environment," said Mark Wombles, who will be opening the new concept. No opening date was provided in the release for the new restaurant.
In the meantime, Jonathan at Gratz Park will continue lunch and dinner service will continue through the end of the week, followed by a Father’s Day brunch this Sunday. From June 16 through 28 the restaurant will serve dinner only.
