Keeneland Race Course is acquiring the family-owned Turf Catering company. Run by the Wolken family since 1929, Turf catering has been the exclusive caterer for Keeneland since 1936.
Although the leadership of the catering company is changing, Keeneland plans to keep the fan favorite recipes including the signature burgoo and bread pudding glazed with bourbon sauce.
Keeneland’s chief operating officer, Vince Gabbert, assures readers that the change in catering companies has nothing to do with the track hosting the Breeder’s Cup. “The only change is the Wolkens will no longer be managing the company,” says Gabbert.
According an article published in the Courier-Journal, no one in the Wolken family was interested in continuing the business.
