Necklaces made of gold-plated chicken bones took top honors as AAF Lexington, the local affiliate of the American Advertising Federation, honored the best in local advertising with its Addy Awards.
Kentucky for Kentucky’s innovative spot produced a lot of attention and adulation, in addition to a limited run of 14-karat gold Kentucky Fried Chicken Wang Bone Necklaces. Whit Hiler, the creative director, and jeweler Meg Carroll were among those honored for the effort.
Judge’s Choice honors went to Braley Design for its Tomato Festival poster for The Arboretum, State Botanical Garden of Kentucky, and to Cornett for its “about page.”
Braley Design also won Best Art Direction for its AAF Lexington - Kit Hinricks lecture poster.
The 2015 Ralph Gabbard Television Excellence Award went to Courage Media for its work with International Coach Federation.
The Tall Addy, which is awarded to work that ultimately went unused, was awarded to Shatterbox for its Skadden recruiting website.
AAF also awarded a scholarship, with this year’s going to Chelsea St. Clair, who is studying psychology and integrated strategic communications at the University of Kentucky.
Officials said it received nearly 2,900 entries for the local district competition.
The winning work will next face a regional competition of work from Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia, with the top work then going on to the national awards competition this summer in Las Vegas.
