UK HealthCare marked the official opening of its new outpatient center, UK HealthCare at Turfland, at the former Turfland Mall site on Harrodsburg Road Monday.
The 85,000-square-foot facility, located on the previous site of the mall’s anchor department store Dillard’s, has been leased and renovated by UK HealthCare as a consolidated location for some of its primary care and specialty outpatient clinics.
“The renovation and relocation to this site has been a unique opportunity for UK HealthCare and for the community, and I believe it has been a win-win for both of us,” said Michael Karpf, UK vice president for health affairs, in a release on the center’s opening.
The center now serves as home for UK Family & Community Medicine (formerly located at the Kentucky Clinic on the UK campus and Kentucky Clinic South on Harrodsburg Road); UK Sports Medicine and UK Sports Rehabilitation (previously located on Perimeter Drive); UK Occupational Medicine & Environmental Health and UK Travel Medicine (formerly located at Kentucky Clinic South); and Radiology and Laboratory Services, along with a pharmacy and an eye care clinic.
Later this year, the UK College of Dentistry is also scheduled to relocate its general dentistry practice at Kentucky Clinic South to UK HealthCare at Turfland, along with the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Orthodontics practice, which is currently located on campus.
All of the clinics at UK Healthcare at Turfland except for the dentistry offices are now seeing patients at the new location.
“For the more than 150 UK HealthCare employees who will be serving more than 30,000 patients at UK HealthCare at Turfland, we are excited to continue to meet the needs of our patients in this spacious, functional and convenient location,” said Dr. Marcus Randall, chief of Ambulatory Services at UK HealthCare and professor and chair of the Department of Radiation Medicine at UK.
