Lexington, KY - This annual event is the longest running literary festival of women in the nation. It has become a premiere destination for the celebration of women's arts and letters. Conference goers spend the day in intimate workshops with established authors at the Central Library and the Carnegie Center, but there are also a host of free literary events the public is invited to attend. Poetry Reading with Simone Muench and Jennifer Chang. 4:15 p.m. Lexington Public Library - Central Branch (140 E. Main St.).
Diane Ackerman. 8 p.m. Memorial Hall, UK Campus. An evening with Diane Ackerman, bestselling author, poet and naturalist. Q & A moderated by Heather Sellers, followed by a book-signing.
Sept. 12
Six Steps to Getting Whatever You Want. 4:15 p.m. Carnegie Center (251 W. Second St.). The Sonia Sanchez Series lecture with mystery novelist Valerie Wilson Wesley.
Stars with Accents. 7 p.m. Carnegie Center. New work by C.E. Morgan, Crystal Wilkinson and Kathleen Driskell.
