Though Ashland may not be quite as popular as UK basketball, it offers our community just as rich, albeit an entirely different, kind of history. Each year, thousands of school children and visitors from Kentucky, the nation and world come to learn about the life and legacy of The Great Compromiser, Henry Clay, arguably one of the nation's most important and respected statesmen. The estate offers 17 acres of gardens, walking paths and historic trees, open 365 days a year for all to enjoy. Fun and educational events abound including the Peony Sale, Arbor Celebration, Croquet Tournament, Jazz Concert, Living History, and Lighting on the Lawn as well as the Gingko Tree Cafe, the best outdoor patio lunch spot in town.
Ashland is an irreplaceable part of the very fiber of this city. It increases tourism, adds to property values, and provides history and green space for our city. Many do not know this National Historic Landmark is not a city park and receives no city, state or federal funding. It is owned and operated by the Henry Clay Memorial Foundation, a 501c3 non-profit and is preserved only by your generous support.
Ashland Membership Madness kicks-off Saturday, March 1 with FREE tours of the Mansion from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. Ashland needs you on our preservation team. Your support and membership does make a difference.
