Artist: Kobra
Location: Kentucky Theatre, 214 E. Main St. (on the back side of the theater, facing Water Street)
Arguably the most iconic and high profile mural in Lexington, this 60-foot-tall painting by Brazilian artist Eduardo Kobra has been featured on local music videos, television shows and the cover of University of Kentucky orientation packets. Created during the 2014 PRHBTN festival, the mural, at least in its early stages, was marked by an apparent international measurement miscommunication, leaving the artist to cover a much larger space than he initially thought, said PRHBTN organizers. Kobra spent much of his first day readjusting dimensions to fit the newly visualized mural, and with the help from the Lexington Fire Department, which provided floodlights, he worked day and night to finish the piece – to an astounding result.
