Rosa Parks Elementary School is a finalist for an EBie Award in the “Reformed Gas Guzzler” category. The EBie Awards is a new nationwide juried competition that celebrates sustainability improvements in existing buildings, and the people who made them happen.
The Reformed Gas Guzzler category recognizes buildings with the highest percentage of energy savings. Rosa Parks Elementary was recognized for the “impressive energy savings” the school incurred after making basic improvements when the 68,000-square-foot facility received an energy audit. Other finalists in the category include an industrial and office complex in Edison, N.J., a mixed-use building in Trenton, N.J., the Dallas Museum of Art, and an affordable housing complex in Brooklyn, N.Y. Other categories include “The All-Rounder,” “The Smooth Operator” and “Verdant Brainiac.”
Winners in all categories will be announced at an Oscars-style awards show on June 28 at the Hard Rock Cafe in Times Square.
