Lexington, KY - Blue Grass Airport Executive Director Michael Gobb has been placed on indefinite suspension with pay.
Airport board chairman Bernard Lovely informed the airport staff of the decision early Tuesday morning.
"The media has raised questions about Mike Gobb's conduct and we want to cooperate with the Auditor of Public Accounts," in its investigation of Gobb's travel and other expenses, Lovely said.
Published reports have purported that Gobb spent more than $200,000 on trips, accommodations and other items between January of 2006 and March of '08.
Lovely said it has not yet been determined whether an interim executive director will be named.
The airport board will hire a consultant with "extensive experience in airport management, organization and compensation to review its policies and practices," according to airport attorney Tom Halbleib in a comment to the Lexington Herald-Leader.
