Lexington, KY - Local citizens will have the opportunity to address the Urban County Council regarding the city's redistricting proposal (see image) on four occasions in the coming weeks.
If the council votes to adopt the new districts, over 33,000 citizens will be moved into new council districts. The large shift is necessary due to uneven population growth throughout Fayette County, which grew 13.5 percent since 2000, with District 2 and 12 experiencing the greatest growth.
Members of the public who wish to address the council regarding the redistricting proposal can do so by signing up for public comment at the following meetings:
6 p.m. Oct. 13
3 p.m. Oct. 18
3 p.m. Oct. 25
6 p.m. Oct. 27
Citizens can sign up for public comment in the council chambers, on the 2nd flood of the government center. Each citizen will be given three minutes to speak.
The redistricting proposal will be on display in the lobby of the government center (200 E. Main St.). It is also available for review on the LFUCG website -
