LEXINGTON, KY - Every time I think about the new business deal the Kentucky Department of Agriculture's Kentucky Proud program forged with a midwest beef conglomerate, I imagine Agriculture Commissioner Richie Farmer singing these lyrics to the tune of George Thorogood's "It Wasn't Me:"
"We'll bring our calves to weight in Iowa,
Process them in Minnesota,
Return them as 'Kentucky Proud,' even if it's only true by an iota..."

But then, irreverence is gentle compared to the howls of outrage and derision aimed at Kentucky Proud since the deal was announced.
