Bayanihan Philippine National Dance Company. 7:30 p.m. Oct. 28. Created in 1957, the dance company is tasked to research and preserve indigenous Philippine art forms in music, dance, costumes and folklore, and to restructure this exploration to evolve repertoires suited to the demands of contemporary theater.
Branford Marsalis. 7:30 p.m. Nov. 13. World-renowned saxophonist Branford Marsalis is a man of numerous musical interests, from jazz, blues and funk, to such classical music projects as his fall 2008 tour with Marsalis Brasilianos. Presented by Spotlight Jazz.
Chris Isaak. 7:30 p.m. Dec. 11. Throughout his impressive recording career, Chris Isaak has tunefully and artfully explored the good, the bad and the ugly of love, as well as other matters of profound human interest.
Bang on a Can All-Stars with Glenn Kotche. 7:30 p.m. Jan. 30, 2011. Formed in 1987 by composers Michael Gordon, David Lang and Julia Wolfe, Bang on a Can's mission is to give the most persuasive and exciting performances of the most genre-defying music in the world. It is part rock band and part amplified chamber group using cello, keyboard, electric guitar, bass and drums.
Itzhak Perlman with UK Symphony Orchestra. 7:30 p.m. March 5, 2011. Undeniably the reigning virtuoso of the violin, Perlman enjoys superstar status rarely afforded a classical musician. In January 2009, Perlman was honored to take part in the Inauguration of President Barack Obama. Perlman proudly possesses four Emmy awards and 15 Grammy awards.
Sleeping Beauty. 7:30 p.m. March 24. Presented by the Moscow Festival Ballet. "Sleeping Beauty" is a grandiose and refined blending of the traditional mime, expressive pas d'action and spectacular divertissements in a lavish theatrical setting. Tchaikovsky was delighted with the invitation to write the music for a ballet based on Charles Perrault's well-known fairy tale.
