He's probably joined you on a carpool. He may have even been heard in your kitchen or living room. Alan Lytle has, in all likelihood, been in your bedroom. Via the radio on WUKY, of course. Lytle is the news director and the voice of the news on University of Kentucky's public radio affiliate.
Lytle has always loved the medium. "I got in the biz to be a DJ. It was my goal in life to be on the radio," said Lytle, who moved to Lexington from Batavia, Ohio (near Cincinnati), to accept a job in radio sales. He soon moved into part- and then full-time work at WUKY broadcasting news.
He notes a couple of reasons to listen to the hometown NPR station saying, "WUKY offers a wide range of opinions and in-depth newsĂ–our listeners set the bar high and we do our best to meet and exceed their expectations."
Lytle also reminds that WUKY is funded in large part by listener donations and is in pledge-drive mode. So if you've caught Alan Lytle in your car or home recently, maybe you should give him a call and thank him and the other folks at WUKY.
