The American College of Trial Lawyers (ACTL) recently elected Stites & Harbison attorney John M. Famularo as a Regent of the ACTL Board. He represents Region IX, which consists of Kentucky, Ohio, Tennessee and Michigan, for a four-year term. Famularo, who is based in Stites & Harbison's Lexington office and also the co-chair of the Torts & Insurance Practice Service Group, is the second attorney from Stites & Harbison to serve as Regent.
Stoll Keenon Ogden PLLC has announced that five attorneys have joined the firm's Louisville and Lexington office. Mary Garris and Tristan Van Tine are now practicing law in the firm's Louisville office. Monica Braun, Christopher Way and Nathaniel Kissel are now practicing law in the firm's Lexington office.

Joan R. Wimsatt, DMD, has taken on an associate, Erin Cutler, DMD, a recent graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry. Located at 810 Chevy Chase Place, the two dentists are changing the name of their practice to Chevy Chase Dentistry. They are currently accepting new patients.

Henkel Denmark has been recognized by PLANET, an industry periodical, for excellence in environmental improvement with the following awards: the Environmental Improvement Grand Award, for work on the Wilhite residence; the Environmental Improvement Distinction Award for work at Fasig Tipton; and the Overall Safety Achievement Award - Gold Performance Level.
The Kentucky Tourism Council named Alltech as the 2009 winner of their Kentucky Unbridled Spirit Award, which recognizes the major contribution of a person or corporation toward promoting tourism in Kentucky.
Central Baptist Hospital has been honored with three recognitions recently: The National Research Corporation's 2009 Consumer Choice Award; The American College of Cardiology Foundation's NCDR ACTION Registry - GWTG Gold Performance Achievement Award for 2009; and inclusion in Modern Healthcare magazine's Top 100 Best Places to Work in Healthcare.
The Lexington Convention and Visitors Bureau (LCVB) was recognized as the winner of six Traverse Awards from the Kentucky Tourism Council Annual Conference in October. The LCVB earned first place awards for the Lexington Visitor Planning Guide, the "I horse LEX" bumper sticker, and their media kit, along with second place awards for the LexTreks Buffalo Trace video and redesigned Web site, www.visitlex.com. An honorable mention award was given for the Big Lex Marketing Campaign.
Big Ass Fans was awarded a LEED Gold plaque for their new 45,000-square-foot R&D facility by the Blue Grass Chapter of the United States Green Building Council earlier this month.
The Gold Certified testing facility uses 35 percent less energy and 60 percent less water than a standard commercial building and was the first commercial building to be certified Gold in Kentucky by the USGBC.
