Lexington, KY - “The key is ‘opportunity,’” said Dr. Augusta A. Julian, President and CEO of Bluegrass Community and Technical College (BCTC), speaking of plans to inform minority-owned, women-owned, veteran-owned and other diverse businesses about “the opportunity to easily learn about, and compete for, the goods and services that are needed here at our college, as well as at other area colleges within the Kentucky Community and Technical College System.”
BCTC will host an event in support of the Kentucky Community and Technical College System’s (KCTCS) Supplier Diversity Initiative targeting minority business owners in the area who want to learn more about opportunities for doing business with the college, 5:30 p.m. – 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 13. The event will take place in building “C” of the BCTC Conference Center on the Leestown campus.
Lexington-based National Diversity Solutions has been retained by KCTCS to facilitate the Initiative.
Once a diverse business is registered with the Initiative they will be notified by phone and e-mail when a matching opportunity occurs. Newsletters and other communications will also keep them updated on future opportunities, Initiative related events and more. “This is an ideal way to us to express our support for the diverse businesses in our community, demonstrate best-in-class supplier diversity for educational institutions in Kentucky, and allow these businesses to learn more about what BCTC has to offer,” continued Julian.
The overall objective of the Supplier Diversity Initiative is to ensure KCTCS meets the 2010-2016 Strategic Plan goals to "reflect the diversity of the students and employees of our 16 colleges and the citizens of the Commonwealth of Kentucky.”
The agenda includes an overview of how the Initiative works, a discussion of upcoming opportunities for goods/service needed by the college, a demonstration of the online registration process, and an open question and answer session. Purchasing agents for the college will be present. Light snacks will be provided.
