What is your favorite iconic building in Lexington?
Benjamin Latrobe’s Pope Villa and the Miller House by Jose Oubrerie. The Pope Villa, although completed 200 years ago, has an enduring freshness that transcends time. The Miller House is one of the most important modernist houses built in the U.S. The buildings share a history of being mistreated by their community, but are now being restored. Lexington is extremely fortunate to have 2 such important pieces of residential architecture.
What is a food you are pretty sure you cannot live without?
I live for my morning oatmeal, made from scratch with flaxseed meal and plenty of fruit.
What’s something people might be surprised to know about you?
I have a fear of heights and clowns.
What was your first job?
I worked as an end sheeter in a bookbinding factory.
What is your favorite scene from a movie?
Any scene in Pulp Fiction with dialog between Samuel L. Jackson (Jules) and John Travolta (Vincent).
What is your idea of a perfect evening?
To finish everything required of me for the day and go to bed with a good book.
