Do you have a lucky charm or a lucky number? Why does it bring you luck?
Not really, but I have three daughters and often think about the number three. I'm always drawn to names (and horses) that link with places we've lived.
What is on the menu for your favorite meal?
Having lived in New York for many years, one of my favorite restaurants is Il Mulino, 86 W. 3rd Street: Saltimbocca veal sautéed with sage and prosciutto; Spinach with garlic and olive oil; side dish of Spaghettini Alla Vongole.
When you were a child, what did you think you wanted to be when you grew up?
Until my junior year in high school, I was planning to attend the Cornell School of Hotel Administration in Ithaca, but in the middle of my junior year I auditioned for a play and that took care of that.
What inspires you?
Of late I have been moved by the dreams and aspirations of my children, who never fail to amaze me with their profound curiosity and commitment to social justice. Also, if you’ve ever spent anytime in the Singletary Center, Guignol Theatre, or the Reynolds Building, you’ll understand how I'm inspired by students, faculty, and staff in the College of Fine Arts. They are beyond wonderful!
What is a favorite college memory?
Weekends in Boston, especially Cambridge… Need I say more?
What is a perfect day off for you?
…brunch at home and the Sunday Times. You won’t hear me complaining unless I have to walk the dog and it's raining.
