What’s your favorite time of day? Are you a morning or night person? I’m definitely a morning person. A porch swing, a hot cup of coffee, and a cool morning breeze make me a happy camper.
What or who is a major inspiration to you? Perfume! Music, art, animal rights advocates, a great piece of writing, women who break down social and political barriers.
What is something about you that would probably surprise your friends? I can legally carry a concealed weapon.
What is your dream vacation? Most of my bucket list involves travel, but opening The Crushed Violet put all travel on the back burner for my husband and I, so right now there are plenty of contenders for a dream vacation. I'd love to plan a trip revolving around perfume museums and cities of known importance within the fragrance industry; topped off with a visit to The Center of Olfactory Art located in the Museum of Arts and Design in NYC. I would also like to create a similar trip with haunted locations or famous horror film locations. Santorini, Cape Town, the Croatian coast, and several spots in the U.S. are also pretty high on my bucket list. I love a city with a museum or two, a fascinating history, places with eclectic live music, interesting food, and a great overall vibe--that’s why I love Lexington.
Who from history would you most like to meet? Ben Franklin. Frida Kahlo. Gertrude Stein, and anyone in or associated with the Algonquin Roundtable.
What is a food you can’t live without? The ultimate comfort food: Warm, fresh bread slathered with butter.
Pleased to Meet You writer Celeste Lewis is out there getting Lexingtonians, from long-timers to new arrivals, to know one another a little better by gently probing their personal interests, recollections, tastes and aspirations.
