Lexington, Ky - WKYT will add three hours of weekend morning news to its lineup beginning Saturday. Weekend editions of “WKYT This Morning” will debut from 6 to 8 a.m. on Saturday and 8 to 9 a.m. on Sunday.
Some familiar faces will be part of the weekend morning newscasts. Elizabeth Dorsett and meteorologist Kari Hall, both who are both already part of the weekend evening teams on WKYT, will take the helm of weekend mornings.
“On weekend mornings, people can expect to see the same great coverage of overnight breaking news and weather,” said WKYT News Director Robert Thomas. “We realize that everyone won’t rushed to get out the door so we will also focus on events, stories, and news that reflects what’s top of mind on the weekends as well.”
Beginning in December, Brittany Pelletz will join Hall, and sports anchor Lee K. Howard for WKYT’s weekend evening newscasts. Pelletz joined WKYT in 2011 from KRBC in Abilene, Texas.
The weekend edition of "WKYT This Morning," will also include segments provided by Business Lexington, focusing on business and economic news in the region.
With the addition of weekend morning news, WKYT is also revising its other programming schedule. On Saturdays, “WKYT This Morning” from 6 to 8 a.m. will be followed by “CBS This Morning” from 8 to 10 a.m. and then children’s programming from 10 a.m. to noon.
On Sundays, “WKYT This Morning” from 8 to 9 a.m. will be followed by “CBS Sunday Morning” from 9 to 10:30 a.m., and “Face The Nation” from 10:30 until 11 a.m.
“Kentucky Newsmakers,” WKYT’s longtime political/public affairs program anchored by Bill Bryant, will continue to air on The CWKYT at 10 a.m. Sundays. Business Lexington will continue to provide the closing segment for Newsmakers.
“The Scholastic Ball Report” will regularly air at noon Saturdays on The CWKYT; and “Local Traveler,” a new program that focuses on businesses and attractions of local interest, will at 11:35 p.m. Saturdays following “WKYT News at 11.”
