Lexington, KY - Lexington Habitat for Humanity is hosting its third annual Bids 4 Builds Online Auction through Dec. 2, at www.bids4builds.com.
This 10-day online event was created by Lexington Habitat’s ambassadors - young professionals who serve as liaisons to promote the Habitat for Humanity mission in the Lexington community - as an alternative way to shop during the holidays and also support Habitat. The auction began on Black Friday, and new items are added daily.
The auction will culminate in a Holiday Open House at the Lexington Habitat ReStore, 451 Southland Drive, on Dec. 8.
The auction raised more than $9,000 in 2011. This year’s fundraising goal is $12,500.
New this year is an opportunity for the ambassadors to receive a grant from State Farm that will match the first $5,000 raised by the auction.
The online auction features nearly 200 items and experiences.
Proceeds from the event benefit Lexington Habitat’s mission of providing simple, decent, affordable housing for low-income families. Since 1986 Lexington Habitat has served more than 350 families. This year, Lexington Habitat has built homes with 17 families. The final homes will be dedicated in December.
Support through Bids 4 Builds will allow Lexington Habitat to build homes for new families in 2013.
