“I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to lead an organization that makes such a meaningful impact on so many lives,” said Martorano. “I was excited and impressed by the work of the YMCA in central Kentucky and to see how the Y strengthens the foundation of our community.”
A 20-year Y professional, Martorano has a proven track record in fundraising, operational growth and visionary leadership. Prior to his experience in Cincinnati, he worked with two other large associations: the YMCA of Metropolitan Milwaukee and the YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit.
“While there were many outstanding candidates, we feel confident that David has the right skill set to lead us to the next level of success,” said Christie Hockensmith, Chair of the Y’s Metropolitan Board of Directors.
The YMCA of Central Kentucky currently has 27,000 members and serves 63,000 central Kentuckians annually through membership and programs. In 2011, the Y awarded more than $1.3 million in financial assistance to ensure that its programs and membership were available to all, regardless of ability to pay.
Martorano holds a Master of Organizational Management and Leadership from Springfield College. He and his wife Viki have four children.
