Lexington, Ky - Mayor Jim Gray today announced the appointment of Bill O’Mara as city finance commissioner.
O’Mara has been director of the city’s Division of Revenue since 1995. In that post he has greatly improved the city’s revenue forecasting and increased multiple revenue streams. Currently is serving as acting finance commissioner, he replaces Jane Driskell, who left the Gray administration to become state budget director.
O’Mara’s appointment is subject to Council confirmation. A confirmation hearing has been scheduled for 3:45 p.m., Thursday, March 7.
O’Mara holds a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Kentucky. He and his wife have three daughters and two grandchildren.
