Lexington, KY – Lexmark International announced Tuesday morning that it has purchased two west coast software companies, San Francisco-based Twistage and Seattle-based AccessVia, for a combined investment of approximately $31.5 million. These acquisitions represent the seventh and eighth such software companies purchased by Lexmark in the past three years as the company looks to expand its focus from the hardware of printers into printing solutions.
Twistage is a cloud platform to allow managing audio, video and images within the confines of a network’s firewalls, “bridging gaps in a company’s media management infrastructure,” according to a release from Lexmark.
AccessVia specializes in signage for use on retail shelves, creating templates and easily-managed print services for the type of signs customers would see in the grocery.
“AccessVia, when combined with Lexmark's managed print services and expertise in delivering print and document process solutions to the retail market, will enable customers to quickly design and produce in-store signage for better and more timely merchandising in a highly distributed store environment,” the Lexmark release states.
Currently AccessVia provides their software, paper and digital printing solutions to more than 75 retailers with more than 60,000 stores, including Best Buy, Office Depot, Safeway and Family Dollar, according to the release.
Lexmark has already closed on its purchase of both companies, which will keep their current headquarters, as have the other software purchases made by Lexmark.
