Lexington, KY - Catalent Pharma Solutions LLC is expanding operations, adding 90 jobs and investing more than $35 million in its Winchester facility.
It’s current 100,000 square foot building on Enterprise Drive in Winchester will be expanded to 180,000 square-feet under the plan announced Wednesday morning by Gov. Steve Beshear’s Office.
Catalent focuses on development solutions and advanced drug delivery technologies, providing worldwide clinical and commercial supply capabilities for drugs, biologics and consumer health products. The company has around 8,500 employees, including more than 1,000 scientists, at nearly 30 facilities on five continents.
Its Winchester presence currently employs more than 300 and produces a variety of over-the-counter and prescription drugs in tablet, capsules and powders. The facility, opened in 1992, has launched more than 100 products for Catalent’s pharmaceutical and consumer health customers.
The Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority (KEDFA) preliminarily approved the company for tax incentives up to $2 million through the Kentucky Business Investment program. The deal allows the company to keep a portion of its investment over the term of the agreement through corporate income tax credits and wage assessments by meeting job and investment targets.
KEDFA also approved Catalent for tax benefits up to $860,000 through the Kentucky Enterprise Initiative Act, which allows approved companies to recoup Kentucky sales and use tax on construction costs, building fixtures, equipment used in research and development and electronic processing equipment.
Catalent expects to complete the expansion of the facility by October of next year.
