Kennedy's new logo
Lexington, KY - A staple near UK's campus since 1950, Kennedy's Bookstore announced it is changing its name to Kennedy's Wildcat Den, a release from Carol Kennedy Behr stated.
Though the store will still be selling textbooks, a market that has seen growing online and electronic competition, Kennedy's will focus more of the store's layout on popular University of Kentucky apparel.
"Kennedy’s pledges to still provide the educational community with the materials necessary to achieve academic success," the release states.
"In order to stay current in business, sometimes adjustments must occur. With the accomplishments and continued national prominence of UK athletics, our apparel, gift and souvenir departments have grown to be a major part of our business," the release states.
The store opened 63 years ago founded by Joe Kennedy, who is still president of the company. The store will still stock study aids, school supplies, computers and electronic accessories.
"We are constantly striving to stay in touch with the college students’ needs and demands. The goal of Kennedy’s Wildcat Den is to be as relevant today as Kennedy Book Store was in 1950," the release states.
