Lexington, KY – Roeding Insurance Group has merged with Houchens Insurance Group (HIG), a regional and international insurance broker based in Bowling Green that includes brands such as Van Meter Insurance, which has a Lexington office.
Roeding, with a location on Wellington Way in Lexington and in northern Kentucky, will maintain its name, current management structure and employees while falling under the HIG umbrella.
Sue Porter, president of Roeding’s Public Entity Insurance group in Lexington, assures that customers will experience virtually no changes other than additional services made possible by the merger. “It allows us to maintain our high level of customer service, and expand those services we are able to offer our clients,” Porter said in a release from the company.
Porter believes the collaboration with Houchens will strengthen both companies. “We have expertise that strengthens Houchens, and they have expertise that adds to our offerings,” she said.
Employees of Roeding Insurance Group will participate in an ownership stake in HIG through its employee stock ownership plan.
Roeding, which was founded in Covington in 1921 offers large commercial property and casualty services, home and auto and life insurance, business insurance, employee benefits, public-entity insurance and financial services.
In addition to Van Meter Insurance, HIG includes the brands Employers Risk Services, Inc., Center of Insurance, Insurance Specialists, Curneal and Hignite as well as Blake, Hart, Taylor and Wiseman, making it one of the nation’s largest employee-owned insurance agencies with more than $250 million in gross sales, according to a release from the company.
