Mayor Jim Gray has named Aldona K. Valicenti as Lexington’s chief information officer. Valicenti served as the state of Kentucky’s first CIO during the administration of Governor Paul Patton. Since leaving state government, Valicenti has served as vice president of consulting services at CGI, an international information technology firm, and as vice president of business development and strategy for Oracle Corporation.
Ellen McGeeney has been named as the first-ever female president/COO of Ale-8-One Bottling Company by the company’s fourth-generation owner and CEO Fielding Rogers. McGeeney, an eighth generation Kentuckian, most recently worked with Rooibee Red Tea, based out of Louisville, Ky., and will remain on their advisory board.
W. Logan Wilson has joined the Lexington office of Bingham Greenebaum Doll LLP. Wilson will serve as a member of the firm’s Corporate and Transactional Practice Group, as well as the Real Estate Practice Group.
Jeremy Dixon has been named as senior corporate accounts manager by the Lexington Legends. The baseball team has also named Andy Valantas as an account executive and Brent Billings as a Legendary Experience Coordinator.
Board Announcements
Governor Steve Beshear has appointed Lexington business owner David Dean to the Kentucky Board of Housing, Buildings and Construction. Dean, of Winchester, Ky., is president and general contractor at Dean Builds and represents the Associated General Contractors of Kentucky.
Bluegrass Community and Technical College recently announced the appointment of the following board members and officers for fiscal year 2013-2014: Annissa M. Franklin, Urban League, as board chair; Jonah Mitchell, owner of Jonah Mitchell Real Estate, as vice chair; Ron L. Walker, Jr., U.S. attorney, as secretary; Florence Huffman, Lexington attorney, as past chair; Marcia Freyman, faculty representative; Ebony Nava, SGA president, as student representative; Luv’Tesha Robertson, as staff representative; Bob McNulty, U.S. Postal Service; Robert E. “Bob” Rowland, retired school superintendent; and S. Dudley Taylor, banker/accountant.
Alex “Cash” Olszowy, building inspection supervisor for the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government, has been elected secretary/treasurer of the International Code Council (ICC) Board of Directors. Olszowy has been with the Division of Building Inspection since 1997, following a successful career in construction as the owner of Residential Concepts, Inc.

Lexington Clinic orthopedic surgeon and founder of The Shoulder Center of Kentucky, W. Ben Kibler, M.D., FACSM, was recently named one of the top 28 shoulder surgeons in North America, as determined through a survey of fellow shoulder surgeons and thought leaders in the field conducted by Orthopedics This Week.
People Plus, Inc. of Lexington has named Liz Columbia as the company’s Employee of the Year. Columbia has worked for the past year for CMI Consulting as an administrative assistant.
