Adam Edelen
Lexington, KY - State Auditor Adam Edelen, who had long considered a 2015 run for governor, has decided to seek reelection to his current job rather than go after the state's highest executive job.
"I greatly appreciate the expressions of encouragement and support from across the commonwealth as I explored a race for governor. Those well-wishes mean more than I can ever express," Edelen said in a statement released by his spokeswoman from his campaign's email address.
"The reality is that campaign would require difficult sacrifices of my family and from my work as Auditor. These are sacrifices I'm unwilling to make at this time," the statement continues.
Had he entered the race he would have faced off with state Attorney General Jack Conway for the Democratic nomination. Louisville businessman Hal Heiner has already entered the race on the Republican side and Agriculture Commisoner James Comer is considering his options for seeking the nomination.
