A screen shot of the #ShareTheLex video
Lexington, KY – After 25,000 tagged Instagram photos and tens of thousands of more Twitter and Facebook posts donning #ShareTheLex, VisitLex, Lexington’s convention and visitors’ bureau, has launched the second video aimed at increasing the city’s presence on social media.
The video series was launched in September of last year with Lexington’s George Dickson dressed as Daniel Boone, espousing the virtues of Lexington and calling on others to do the same via social media platforms by tagging posts with #ShareTheLex. Today Dickson is back in another video produced by Lexington’s Cornett agency, as Henry Clay outside Clay’s Ashland estate and in character elsewhere around Lexington.
As was the case a year ago, other – much more modern-day – Lexington notables appear in the video, including Mayor Jim Gray, Master Chef contestant Dan Wu, blogger and Instagram star Tiffany Mitchell and William and Elizabeth Shatner, proclaiming “share the Lex.”
VisitLex reports an increase of 3.9 percent in hotel occupancy rates in 2013 over 2012 while total room revenues went up 8.9 percent, reaching an all-time high.
