Ellen A. (Nan) Plummer
Lexington, KY - Ellen “Nan” Plummer, former executive director of the Arkansas Arts Center, has been named as the new president and CEO of LexArts.
Plummer, who will start her new job on November 17, is currently a senior development officer for the Arkansas Children’s Hospital Foundation in Little Rock, Arkansas. From 2002 to 2010, she served as executive director of the Arkansas Art Center, billed as the oldest art museum and the second-largest arts organization in the state.
Plummer has also held positions at the Toledo Museum of Art and the University of Michigan Museum of Art. She earned a bachelor’s degree in art history from Mount Holyoke College, and an MBA, along with both a master’s degree and doctorate in art history, from the University of Michigan.
Plummer’s hire follows a nationwide search for a successor to former LexArts president James Clark, who retired in June.
"[Plummer] brings strong community arts leadership experience along with excellent fundraising acumen and nonprofit expertise to the table,” said John Long, LexArts’ chairman of the board, in a media release on the new hire.
"To lead an organization with LexArts' history of excellence and potential for achievement is a thrilling opportunity,” Plummer said in the media release. “I look forward to learning more about Lexington and about LexArts' many collaborators as we continue to build the region's exceptional creative economy and quality of life."
