Thomas R. Gormley Jr., a longtime president and chief operating officer of Hurst Office Suppliers Inc., has died, officials announced. Gormley died Monday of unspecified causes. He was 61.
Hope Hurst Lanham, the third-generation CEO of the Lexington-based company, announced Gormley’s passing in a message to workers and customers. Lanham said her late father, Richard Hurst, brought Gormley in to run Hurst’s operations in 1988.
“In the many years and capacities I have worked with Tom I have been shown over and over again his extreme love for Hurst, this industry and his family,” Lanham said.
She also announced Hurst would be closed Monday to allow employees to attend services for Gormley.
Lanham said Gormley is survived by his wife, Jenny; a son, TR; and daughters Meghan Gormley Leeds and Elizabeth Gormley.
