Southland Jamboree
7 p.m., Tuesdays through Sept. 6
Collins Bowling Alley
205 Southland Dr.
(859) 276 - 4692
Now in its sixth season of hosting a free weekly bluegrass music concert for all ages throughout the summer, the Southland Jamboree buttresses Lexington's claim as Bluegrass Capital of the World.
With hundreds of audience members crowding into the lawn adjacent to the Southland Bowling Lanes parking lot, the series offers a unique opportunity for fans who get to hear authentic bluegrass music performed by local and regional acts, as well as for the musicians, who get to perform before an ever-growing audience.
Opening the season the last Tuesday in May, the Jamboree is in full swing until the season's last show on Sept. 6. Concerts are weather permitting and last over an hour. Concessions are available on site. Audience members are encouraged to bring a blanket or chairs, and to get there early if they want a good spot for the show.
