The new Richmond Road campus for Southland Christian Church will begin hosting weekend services Jan. 5.
The church acquired the property, the former site of the Lexington Mall, for their third campus in September 2010 and has been in the planning and construction phase since.
The new 195,000-square-foot facility, designed by EOP Architects and constructed by Messer Construction Co., includes a 52,000-square-foot auditorium with seating for 2,000 people (a future capacity of 2,800 people is planned), as well as a 97,000-square-foot facility in the former Dillard's space to be used for nursery, children, middle school, high school and teaching spaces and offices. An additional 46,000 square feet of the former Dillard's space was left unfinished for future expansion.
There will be approximately 1,200 parking spaces available, and final site work and paving will be completed in the spring of 2013, according to a press release.
The first weekend services will be at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 5 and 9:30 a.m. and 11:15 a.m.
