For neighbors who care about Ashland and have a few hours to help, their assistance can make a real and visible difference by joining in Ashland Community Care Day at the Henry Clay Estate from 1 - 4 p.m. Aug. 25.
Volunteers are needed remove weeds from around trees, as well as perform some light pruning. Organizers are asking volunteers to wear work gloves and protective clothing and to bring clippers, rakes and pruning tools, if available (not required). Dave Leonard and Ross Rateman of Dave Leonard Tree Specialists will give direction on weeding and pruning. For more information, visit henryclay.org.
Ashland, the Henry Clay Estate receives no city, state or federal funding and is not a city park. The organization relies on support through donations and volunteers to preserve the National Historic Landmark and 17 acres of grounds, trees, gardens and walking paths that are open to the public 365 days a year.
