Multiple events will be happening in and around downtown Lexington on Saturday, Oct. 19, which will require advance planning for residents and visitors alike.
Starting at 10 a.m. and continuing until 11 p.m., West Main Street from Broadway to Jefferson Street and West Vine Street from West Main Street to Broadway will be closed to accommodate the Bourbon Chase Race finish line celebration at Triangle Park.
The Lexington Center, Rupp Arena and the Lexington Opera House will also be hosting events that day:
• Approximately 2,000 people are expected to attend World Spirit Cheer and Dance competition taking place at Lexington Center’s Heritage Hall from 8 a.m – 6 p.m.
• Kentucky Reading Association will be holding a meeting at the Lexington Convention Center from 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. with approximately 500 in attendance.
• The NBA Pre-season game New Orleans Pelicans vs. Washington Wizards will take place at Rupp Arena at 7 p.m. 15,000 is the projected attendance.
• The Lexington Opera House will host two performances of "Les Miserables." Shows are at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Approximately 500 – 900 for each performance is expected.
