High Street Restoration
Neglected and historic homes throughout Lexington may find new life at the hands of Next Century Homes & Restoration, LLC.
According to co-owner Kyle Hoelscher, the mission of the company is to turn the worst home in the neighborhood into the nicest.
“We completely renovate everything to make sure these nice historic homes are ready to last another one-hundred years,” said Hoelscher.
Hoelscher recently completed the restoration of a home in Woodland Park on East High St. that was first built in 1930. The property had over fifty-six open code violations prior to the renovation, all of which have now been fixed.
The company will often renovate all the mechanical systems in each house, install new plumbing and electricity, refinish the walls and floors, and add insulation to the property, usually for the very first time.
“We take these old properties that are heading in the direction of the bulldozer and give them a new life,” said Hoelscher.
“We particularly like the Chevy Chase neighborhood. We spend the majority of our time in Chevy Chase and Ashland Park and the Kenwick neighborhood, because it is kind of the heart and soul of Lexington.”
Hoelscher admits that it can be hard to find neglected properties in these neighborhoods, but his company’s restoration practices are not limited to homes that need it desperately.
“We can come in, and even with really beautiful homes, make them even more beautiful and give them the personality that will make them more desirable in the future,” Hoelscher said.
