Heroes don't always get respect: Even as the violin was becoming a legendary instrument in the hands of Paganini, the viola and clarinet were quietly supporting ensembles with harmony and counterpoint. Professor Carl Reinecke taught harmony to many famous composers and grew a colossal set of mutton chops, but somehow his music isn't as well-known in the 21st century. This trio concert with viola, clarinet, and piano puts the spotlight on a group that Mozart wrote for while bowling, featuring heroic music by Reinecke, Paul Jeanjean, Max Bruch, and more.
