Ayser Salman is an Iraqi-born University of Kentucky graduate who now lives and works in Los Angeles as a writer and producer/director for companies that include Universal Pictures, Miramax Films, Disney, FX and Lantern Entertainment. In her debut book –“The Wrong End of the Table: A Mostly Comic Memoir of a Muslim Arab American Woman Just Trying to Fit In,” which has been described as part memoir, part “how not to” guide – Salman traces her unlikely journey from Baghdad to Hollywood, by way of Ohio, Saudi Arabia and Kentucky, using a warm and witty voice to hit upon timely observations about the immigrant experience. Her Lexington book reading will include a Q&A with bestselling author David Bell.
